Having a good understanding of how our young children are doing will help Albertans to create the supportive environments our children need.
What is the Early Development Instrument (EDI)? What is socio-economic status (SES)? What are community resources and assets? The three kinds of data are explained.
Provincial results are compiled for the EDI, SES and community resources and characteristics. Community summaries are also compiled for the EDI, SES and community resources and characteristics.
Citywide results for the EDI, SES and community resources and characteristics have been compiled for Edmonton and Calgary. Both cities encompass several early childhood development (ECD) communities.
Community results can be accessed by region (north, central and south). They can also be downloaded through the Community profiles of early childhood development in Alberta report.
Interactive maps and accompanying charts provide Early Development Instrument (EDI) results and information on the socio-economic status and resources in communities and subcommunities across Alberta.
